President Cup: First victory for Austria in Skopje

Kazakhstan – Austria 23-30 (10-16)

Austria defeat Kazakhstan with (23-30) in President Cup on IHF World Championship U18 for first victory in Skopje. This was a game between two team without win (Kazakhstan took points without playing against India), after three games in Skopje. So, both were motivated.  

Tie fight we sou only at the beginning of the game (1-1 and 2-2). Few minutes later, Austria with run 1-8 lead with plus eight 4-12. Goalkeeper Nina Tilliacher was brilliant, makes 10 saves in the first half.

Kazakhstan despite good performance of Damira Zhaparova, who was keeping the goal us match she can. Girls in blue dressed can’t find the right way and tactic, they made a lot of technical mistakes. On the break the result was 10-16.

Austrian girls have chance very easy to doubled result in the first minutes of second half, when the opponent was without two players on the court. They meaded in 42 minutes of the game, result was 12-22. This lead was enough for a peaceful finish.

Iuliia POILOVA (coach of Kazakhstan) – Thanks to Austria for the good match, something is happening with our team. We had a plan, we didn’t fulfill it. We will have to work a lot in the future.

Simona SPIRIDON (coach of Austria) – It was very important for us to win this game, for our emotions. The girls fight in defense, they were good also in attack. I am very happy that we win for the first time on World Championship.
