With the popularity of the sport soaring in the small state that counts a little under 50,000 people, all eyes will definitely be on this site, after they finished third at the W17 EHF Championship last summer, losing the semi-final against the Netherlands, but securing a win against Ukraine in the bronze-medal match.
Centre back Lukka Arge has been instrumental in that tournament, scoring 30 goals in five matches, as the Faroe Islands secured three wins, drew one game, and lost another.
Their preparation matches up until the start of the tournament at North Macedonia 2022 featured two losses against Iceland, but boasting several players that are currently developing in Denmark at the highest level will surely help the Faroe Islands in their quest to become a strong team.
Being one of the eight teams that will make their debut in the competition will be pressure, while the draw, who allocated them to Group D, alongside three other European opponents, did not help. However, the learning curve is steep, and the Faroe Islands are sure to be making the most of this experience.
