Hungary with two points in the Main round

HUNGARY – FRANCE 22-21 (7-7)
Karman 6, Szabo 3 – Perret 5, Dury 5

Hungary will transfer two points in the Main round while France will go there empty handed. Only 14 goals were scored during the first half in the match between Hungary and France, top two teams from Group H of the Women’s Youth World Championship in Skopje. Both teams scored seven times.

The Second half was more dynamic and Hungary was the team that took control after ten minutes and reached 13-11  lead. Two goals gap remained in the next ten minutes with the both goalkeepers Emma Lazzari and Szofi Imre playing significant roles.

Luca Karman scored a very important goal for 19-16 and raised it to three goals for the first time in the match. France was pushed to the wall and from that moment every mistake could mean “game over”.  They made two but went unpunished. However time worked in favour of Hungary.
But corpulent goalkeeper Shana Wanda saved two attacks and gave France last chance to leave the court unbeaten. But they failed in the last attack.

Olivier De Lafuente (Head Coach France) – It was a difficult and tough match with two teams with great fighting spirit. We had our chances and we missed them. Now we’ll have to compensate in the Main round.

Peter Woth (Hyngary) – It was a nice game, interesting, tough match for both teams. Defense was the main characteristic, goalkeepers. We missed some shots but finally won the match
