Norway just too good for the Czech Republic

Norway recorded maintained its perfect record in Group G at the IHF’s World Championship U18 in Skopje after they won 23-19 against the Czech Republic. This defeat meant elimination for the Czech because they needed a draw or a win to secure second place in the group.

Norway was in control of the match in the first half. They made their first step toward the win with a 4-0 run and led with 9-4. The girls in white didn’t surrender and fought hard but at the break, Norway led 13-10.

The Scandinavian team typically played great defense and scored a couple of easy goals in transition. The Czech team fought hard at the beginning of the second half but the opponent didn’t let up and kept their lead with 3-4 goals.

Constance Hedenstad was in a great rhythm and scored three times in a row to push back the Czech attacks. Kadija Mardalen also made a couple of great saves for Norway. The run was 5-0 and Norway had the biggest lead with 21-14. The Czech team couldn’t come back and they will continue in The president’s cup.

Constance Hedenstad was voted Player of the match.
